Truepu Jinja, located in Hyogo Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sea god Susanoo-no-Mikoto and the god of fertility Inari. The shrine's main hall is designed in the classical Japanese architectural style with a tiled roof and vermilion walls. According to local legend, the shrine was founded by Emperor Shotoku in 645 CE to honor Susanoo-no-Mikoto, who was said to have helped bring peace and prosperity to Japan.

Visitor tip
To make a prayer at the shrine, first purchase an omamori charm from the shrine's shop, then tie it with a red string around your wrist before making your wish.
Cultural notes
In addition to Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Inari, the shrine is also enshrined by the Shinto god of the sea, Ōkuninushi, and the goddess Otohime. The shrine celebrates the annual Wakasagi Matsuri festival in July to honor the fisherman's patron deity.

The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II.
