Akiba Shrine, located in the heart of Tokyo, is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of autumn leaves and fruit trees. The shrine's name, Akiba, literally means 'autumn leaf' in Japanese. Its design and architecture reflect the traditional style of shrines found throughout Japan, with a majestic torii gate and a serene garden. Visitors can experience the vibrant atmosphere of the shrine during the annual Autumn Leaves Festival (, Akizukuri) held in late November.

Cultural notes
Akiba Shrine is associated with the Shinto deity Inari Okami, who is revered as the patron of agriculture and fertility. The shrine also features a unique 'fruit tree' hall (, mitsu-zukuri), which showcases various types of fruit-bearing trees native to Japan.

Founded in 1624, Akiba Shrine has been an important cultural and spiritual center for over 390 years.
