Eight Bells Temple, located in the heart of Ibaraki Prefecture's western countryside, has a rich history dating back to 646 CE when it was originally built to honor Minamoto no Tametomo. The shrine is known as one of Japan's 'Three Great Shrines' along with Ise and Kasuga-taisha. Its unique architecture features an octagonal torii gate, said to ward off evil spirits, and a sacred bell that supposedly rings out in times of peace.
