Eight Kings Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Eight Kings Park, located in the western part of Saitama Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the mythological Eight Kings, believed to be the ancestors of the Japanese imperial family. According to legend, the shrine was founded by Emperor Seiwa in 718 AD and has since become an important site for royal weddings and ceremonies.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The Eight Kings Shrine is one of Japan's most famous Shinto shrines for royal weddings. This ritual is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the newlywed couple.
