Yamanashi

Mt. Fuji's iconic mountain is said to have a strong spiritual connection with the kami of Mt. Hakone, but it's also believed that the Shinto gods who inhabit Mt. Hakone watch over Yamanashi Prefecture. The Koshin-yama Shrine in Yamanashi Prefecture is dedicated to the protection and prosperity of the region, particularly its agriculture.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The shrine is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage and annual autumn festival to honor the deity of agriculture, Koshin-yama no kami, who is believed to protect crops from natural disasters.
