Cultural notes
As Takamatsu no Okuninushi Shrine is dedicated to Hachiman Okami, it is closely associated with the legend of the 'Tenno-seki' which says that Hachiman was tasked by Emperor Kinmei to guide him on his path to becoming emperor. This connection to a major Shinto deity highlights its importance in the local religious landscape.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1958.
