大野天満宮

Ibaraki

Located in the town of Okachibamura, Ibaraki Prefecture, Daiyō Tennō-jinja Shrine is dedicated to Ō no Tenno, a legendary Shōsenji (Soga no Ōno) who brought Buddhism and other foreign influences to Japan. This shrine showcases a unique blend of traditional and modern architecture, while incorporating regional architectural styles prevalent in the area during the Edo period.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

This shrine is connected to Shōsenji, a legendary figure from Japanese mythology who is said to have introduced Buddhism and Chinese culture to Japan. Visitors can observe traditional tea ceremonies and participate in special events during the annual Ōsaka Matsuri festival held in May.
