The Imperial Palace Shrine, located in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deities believed to have inhabited the palace grounds since ancient times. According to legend, Emperor Ojin and his wife, Empress Jingū, built this shrine during their reign on Mount Kōtoku in 293 AD.
