Cultural notes
Kuroki Shrine is connected to the mythology of Niigata Prefecture through its association with Ryujin, who is said to have created the region's rivers. The shrine also hosts a yearly autumn festival (known as 'Aki Matsuri') in honor of Inari Okami.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being damaged by an earthquake in 1898.
