長良神社

Tochigi

Longer Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the city of Sasashima, located on a peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean. Dedicated to Yamatonomiokami, the god of rice and fertility, it was originally constructed during the Heian period (794-1185 CE) as a smaller shrine and later renovated.

The shrine's origins date back to the 9th century when it was known as Tamahime-yama no Yamato-no-Momozono no Michi, or 'the Way of Momozono Yamato-no-Mon', named after an imperial princess
