Dedicated to the kami Ōmi no Kami, it is said to be the ancestral home of the Ōmi-no-mimi-no-omi family and a sacred site for the region's inhabitants. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance as a major center of the Ise-Sha Arai Shrine during the Edo period.
