Cultural notes

Inari is often depicted with multiple foxes, which are believed to be his messengers. At White Mountain Inari Shrine, visitors can take a photo with a fox statue at the shrine entrance.

Historical note

The shrine was founded in 1633 during the Edo period by a member of the Shinto priestly class known as the 'Irezumi,' who served Inari Okami at the nearby Kiyosumi Park temple.
