Stonehenge-like stone monument at the entrance of Stone Buddha Temple, built during Heian period by monk Hachimantai and dedicated to enshrined deity Hachiman. The shrine honors the god of war and justice, revered as a patron of fishermen and travelers. Stone Buddha Temple is connected to this shrine through a walking path.

Cultural notes

According to legend, Hachiman traveled with Emperor Ninmyo to establish this shrine after hearing the emperor's pleas. A large stone monument at the entrance is said to mark the spot where Hachiman stopped to rest on his journey.
