Sawayamishiro Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine located in Akita Prefecture, dedicated to the Shinto deity Inari Okami. The shrine is famous for its large number of vermilion torii gates that line the approach to the main hall, creating a striking and vibrant visual effect. According to local legend, the shrine was established in 718 CE by Prince Otomo no Yasumichi, who built a small shrine dedicated to Inari Okami on a hill overlooking the Sea of Japan.
