The Totomi Grand Shrine, located in Fukui Prefecture, is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and the god of storms Susanoo. The shrine's name "Totomi" refers to the Totomi River that runs through the surrounding area. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period, with a distinctive curved roofline and a large torii gate. As one of Japan's oldest shrines, it is believed to have been established during the early Heian period (794-1185 CE).
