Cultural notes

As Amaterasu is the ancestor of the Japanese imperial family, Ukeno-jinja is considered an important shrine for royal descendants. The shrine's main hall, the Honden, features a magnificent vermilion roof and is adorned with traditional Shinto motifs. During the spring festival, known as Matsuri, visitors can participate in traditional dances and ceremonies.
