Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Mokuzu Shrine is known for its impressive wooden torii gate, which is said to be one of the oldest in Japan. The shrine also hosts a spring festival called 'Matsuri' in late March, featuring traditional music, dance, and food stalls.
Historical note
The shrine was founded during the Heian period (794-1185 CE) in memory of a local nobleman who died at a nearby hot spring.
