Located in the city of Omi, Lake Biwa's western shore in Shiga Prefecture, Ōmiya-jinja Shrine is a prominent Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami and Emperor Semyo. The shrine complex features a wooden torii gate and traditional Japanese architecture.

Cultural notes
Ōmiya-jinja Shrine is celebrated during the Shishigahama festival in November, which commemorates a legend about a samurai's unyielding spirit. The shrine is also notable for its unique torii gate, adorned with the mythical creature Ryūjin.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 741 CE by the imperial family's daughter, Princess Nagayo, for her husband, Prince Nakatomo.
