Kogane no Tsurugi-hira Shrine, located in the town of Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Inari, known as Koshinagino. The shrine's name, meaning 'Golden Sword Hira,' reflects its significance as a sacred site where people come to pray for good fortune and prosperity. Built in 1790, the shrine's main hall features a beautiful vermilion gate and is surrounded by numerous torii gates, symbolizing the connection between heaven and earth.

Visitor tip
To avoid long lines, visit the shrine early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun is not directly overhead. Bring a small gift of rice balls or mochi to offer to the kami as a sign of respect.
Cultural notes
As an Inari shrine, Kogane no Tsurugi-hira Shrine is associated with the mythology of the fox spirits, known as kitsune, which are believed to be revered by the god Inari. The shrine also participates in the annual O-umiya Festival, which takes place in October and features traditional dances, music, and food stalls.
