Cultural notes
Hachiman Okami is also associated with the legend of 'Akakage,' a mythical bowman said to have created the first Japanese bow. The shrine's annual 'Hachiman Festival' (Hachiman Matsuri) honors this legend and features traditional performances, food stalls, and ritual dances.
