Located in the city of Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Ifukuyama Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. Visitor tip
To avoid long lines, visit the shrine early in the morning or during the week. Bring a small gift of rice or miso paste to make a prayer offering at the torii gate.
Cultural notes
Ifukuyama Shrine is famous for its annual Spring Festival (Matsuri) and Autumn Leaves Festival (Koyo). The shrine is also associated with the mythology of the fox spirit, Inari Okami, who is often depicted as a powerful and benevolent deity.
