Seto Inland Sea Shrine, dedicated to the storm god Susanoo and his wife Kaguya-hime, is a Shinto shrine located in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture. The shrine was rebuilt after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, but its origins date back to the Heian period (794-1185). Visitors can experience the shrine's peaceful atmosphere amidst beautiful gardens and a large torii gate.

Visitor tip
Visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) for a stunning view of the torii gate surrounded by blooming sakura.
Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens, including a 100-year-old weeping Japanese cypress tree. The shrine also hosts an annual Spring Festival in late March, celebrating the arrival of spring and the purification of the community.
