Cultural notes
The Eight-Horsemanship Shrine is particularly revered for its strong connection to the legendary horse of Susanoo-no-Mikoto, said to have been born from the primordial waters of the sea. During New Year (Oshogatsu) celebrations, locals offer sacred horse-shaped offerings in honor of this mythological creature.
