Cultural notes
As one of Japan's most famous shrines, Hachiman Shrine is said to have connections to the legendary Japanese warrior Minamoto no Yoritomo, who is believed to have worshipped at the shrine before his military campaigns. Historical note
The shrine was originally founded in 711 AD during the Nara period by Prince Shotoku.
