Located in the heart of Osaka, Toyotake Inari Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of rice and fertility. Visitor tip
To get a glimpse into the shrine's history, visit during the annual Autumn Leaves Festival (Koyo), when the torii gates are beautifully illuminated against the backdrop of changing leaves.
Cultural notes
Inari Okunoin is said to be inhabited by the fox spirit Inari Ōkami, who is revered for his role in protecting farmers and ensuring bountiful harvests. Visitors can offer prayers and food to the kami at the many shrines leading up to the torii gates.
