Visitor tip

To make an offering to Jiten Mae-yamato-no-Kami, visitors should purchase a special paper prayer (emakimono) at the shrine's shop and write their prayers or wishes on it before burning the paper as an incense offering.

Cultural notes

This shrine is associated with the legend of Kojima Masakado, a former regent who was executed for his role in a rebellion against the emperor. According to local lore, if you stand at the entrance of the shrine and face east, you will see the ghostly apparition of Masakado.
