Located in the heart of Nagano, Ifriya Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. As one of the most famous shrines in Japan, it is known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that form a tunnel leading up to the main shrine. Visitors can make offerings and pray for good fortune, prosperity, and protection.

Cultural notes
Ifriya Shrine is famous for its fox spirits, known as kitsune, which are believed to possess spiritual powers. During the autumnal equinox festival, visitors can expect to see numerous fox statues and ornaments throughout the shrine grounds.
Historical note
Built during the Edo period (1603-1868), Ifriya Shrine was established by Lord Mitsuhide Akechi in 1611 as a memorial to his father.
