Cultural notes
Ōmiya Hachiman Shrine is closely tied to the legend of Prince Tameyasu, who sought the advice of Hachiman Tenjin before embarking on a campaign against the Abasaka tribe. The shrine is also famous for its numerous festivals, including the annual Ōmiya Hachiman Matsuri, which takes place in October.
Historical note
The shrine was originally established during the Nara period (710-794 CE), but its current structure dates back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE).
