静原神社

Located in the town of Koka, Shiga Prefecture, 静原神社 is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of wisdom and literature, Hachiman Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects its Heian period origins, with a large torii gate and a wooden hall. Visitors can explore the shrine grounds, which include several smaller shrines and temples, as well as the nearby Hachijojin Temple. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful autumn foliage.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

静原神社 is connected to the mythology of Hachiman Okami, who is said to have been inspired by the legend of the Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a famous Japanese samurai. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in autumn, which includes traditional dances and performances.
