Aomori

Toroishimai Shrine, located in Aomori Prefecture, is dedicated to the god of the sea and fertility, Toroishimai, a kami associated with the region's rich marine resources. The shrine is situated on the coast, overlooking the Sea of Japan, and features a unique wooden torii gate that blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. In line with traditional Shinto architecture, the shrine's main hall, honden, is adorned with intricately carved wooden columns and covered in tiles made from locally sourced ceramic materials.
