日吉神社

Ishikawa

Dayaji Insa, also known as Daya or Hi no Ori, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. The shrine is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. According to local legend, the shrine was built in 1633 during the Edo period as an honor to the daimyo (feudal lord) Maeda Tadateru.

文化的背景

As a shrine dedicated to Amaterasu, Dayaji Insa is one of the few Shinto shrines that honors both the sun goddess and her counterpart, Tsukiyomi. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in late August to celebrate the full moon.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt after a fire in 1869.
