The seven-faced shrine, 'Nan'etsudō', in Aomori Prefecture is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of the sea and storms. The shrine's unique architecture features seven buildings, each representing one of the elements: water, wind, earth, fire, and four additional elements. According to local legend, the shrine was built to appease the kami, Ryujin, who was said to reside in the nearby waters.
