Tokushima

West Matsuyama Hachiman Shrine, located in the heart of Tokushima Prefecture, is dedicated to the Shinto god of war and wisdom, Hachiman. The shrine was built in 1618 during the early Edo period as a tribute to Hachiman's role in the founding of the Matsuyama Domain. The shrine's architectural style reflects the traditional Japanese design of a honden surrounded by torii gates and gardens.
