Lighting of the lanterns is a traditional event held at Lightup Matsuo Shrine to commemorate the death anniversary of Shinsuke Morisue, but it is also associated with Hachiman Okami and the 8th century deity, Ōkuniichi. The shrine is famous for its light-up festival in December.
