Tokushima

Takaoka-jinja is a Shinto shrine located in the heart of Taketa, Tokushima Prefecture. Dedicated to the storm god Susanoo-no-Mikoto, it is one of the few shrines in Japan that enshrines both Susanoo and the local deity of Tokushima, Namahage-kami. The shrine's architecture reflects its regional characteristics, with a main hall built using high-quality cedar wood. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful garden and traditional Japanese sweets offered at the shrine's gift shop.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt in 1684 after being destroyed by fire during the Edo period.
