皇産霊神社

Ibaraki

Located in the historic city of Hitachi, the 皇産霊神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity of agriculture and fertility, Ryūjin, as well as the god of prosperity, Ōkuninushi. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period style, with a main hall featuring a tiled roof and sliding doors made from hinoki cypress wood. In the surrounding Hitachi Plain, this shrine is said to be surrounded by the spirits of former emperors.
