御釼神社

located in the heart of Kyoto's imperial city, 御釼神社 is a revered Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami, Toshimori no kamaji-gami. The shrine's architecture reflects its role as an important stopover for travelers and merchants on their way to Kyoto's emperor's palace, with traditional wooden torii gates flanking the entrance. Despite being rebuilt after fires in 1936 and 1960, the shrine still maintains much of its historical charm.
