Mokuzan-gami-sha is a Shinto shrine located in the Mito City of Ibaraki Prefecture, dedicated to the kami associated with wood and umbrella. The shrine's main hall features a unique shōgen-zukuri architectural style, typical of the Heian period (794-1185 CE). According to legend, the shrine was founded by a local aristocrat who sought the protection of the kami from a severe storm that damaged his ancestral village. Today, visitors can still see the remains of an old umbrella-shaped shrine tower at the site, believed to be a remnant of this legendary event.
