Ancient Shikotsu-to Shrine in Aomori Prefecture dates back to the Heian period, around 900 AD. Dedicated to the four Shishimai (Four Great Kings) who ruled the land of Ezo, the shrine is one of the oldest and most revered in northern Japan.

文化的背景
As part of Aomori's Spring Festival, locals offer sweet rice balls as offerings to the Shishimai. The shrine is also famous for its traditional dances performed by local performers, known as 'Aomori Noh'.
