Located in small town of Odawara on the eastern edge of Kantō region, Eight-Horse Temple, or Yatsuga-taisha, is a Shinto temple dedicated to the god of prosperity and happiness, Hachiman. The deity is believed to protect travelers and bring good fortune to those who pray for his blessing. Dedicated in 745 CE by Prince Shotoku, it has survived numerous fires and transformations, including being rebuilt on its current site in 1633.
