文化的背景

Futsu no Kami, the deity enshrined at Fuyusokanji Shrine, is associated with the spirit of a prisoner who was executed on Mt. Fuji. According to legend, the prisoner's spirit was so strong that it became the guardian deity of the mountain. The shrine celebrates the annual ' Mt. Fuji Prisoner Festival' (Fuji Satsuki Matsuri) in May.

Founded in 1813 during the Edo period, Fuyusokanji Shrine was originally a temple but was later converted into a Shinto shrine.
