Located in the town of Kakatocho, Gunma Prefecture, Myoiki Shrine is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and also enshrines the god of agriculture, Susanoo. The shrine's main hall was rebuilt in 1922 after the original one was destroyed by fire in 1898. A notable architectural feature of the shrine is its unique Shachihoko gate, which resembles a mythical sea serpent. The shrine hosts an annual festival, Ten no Hara Matsuri, which honors Amaterasu and features traditional dances, food stalls, and games.

文化的背景
Myoiki Shrine is connected to the myth of Amaterasu, who hid in the cave of Myojin-ji to avoid her brother Susanoo's mischief. During Ten no Hara Matsuri, participants reenact a traditional dance called 'Yata no Kagami' to honor Amaterasu's power.
