Located in the heart of Ibaraki Prefecture, not Saitama, is the famous Utsunomiya-shi Kamui no Mura Tamagawa Shōno Mikiyashiro Ōmoto Hachiman-gū shrine dedicated to Hachiman, but 大山祇神社 (Ōtsuma Shrine) in Ōtsumae-cho, is a Shinto shrine that enshrines the kami Izanagi and other lesser-known deities. Founded in 1746, it is known for its unique, naturalistic architecture.Ōtsuma Shrine was originally dedicated to Izanagi, but due to the influence of Ōmoto Hachiman-gū, it now primarily enshrines Hachiman as well as other kami such as Inari and Kunitsuno Kanezome, in addition to its original deity.
