Located in Kyoto, Kodaiji-dera's sister shrine, Nishiyama-ha no Mura no Okuninushi-san is one of the oldest shrines in Japan, founded during the Tenpuku era (794-798), but it shares roots with the famous Nishiyama-ha Okuninushi shrine. The shrine is dedicated to Okuninushi-no-kami, a Shinto god who was believed to protect the village from evil spirits and bring good luck to its inhabitants.
