Located in the heart of Japan's snowy mountains, Ōkita Izumo-taisha is one of Shinto's most revered shrines dedicated to the god of storms and fertility, Izumo Okappan. It is said that Izumo Okappan was a strong warrior who possessed supernatural strength. He was born on an island in the Sea of Japan and later sailed to the mainland where he became a great leader.
