Located in the city of Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, the Shrine of the Six Thousand Caves is a Shinto temple dedicated to the protection and prosperity of merchants and travelers. The shrine's name refers to its unique architecture, which features six caves (tumuli) containing the remains of eight 7th-century samurai who were martyred for their faith.
