Located in the town of Odawara in Kanagawa Prefecture, former capital city of Japan during the Kamakura period, Former Bird Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of birds and animals. The shrine's primary deity is Ōkami no Kami, also known as the Great God of Birds and Animals. According to legend, the shrine was built to commemorate the great bird deity that protected the city during the 12th-century civil war.
