Located in the heart of Kobe, Higashi Hongan-ji Temple's English name is not directly associated with a Shinto shrine, however, its nearby counterpart, Hyuga Shrine, honors the kami Inari. The shrine, dedicated to Inari Okami and other kami, has a long history dating back to 1608.

To avoid long lines, consider visiting during the less busy 'kobeni' season (April-May) when cherry blossoms bloom.

文化的背景

Hyuga Shrine is connected to the mythology surrounding Inari Okami and her role in guiding rice merchants. The shrine's architecture and designs reflect regional influences from Kobe's history as a trading port. During annual festivals, participants wear traditional clothing adorned with rice grain patterns inspired by Inari's association with agriculture.
