The Kibi Plain's sacred space, San'yō-sai Shrine was transformed into the current Interval Gate Shrine in 1869 following abolition of shrine seclusion laws. Originally dedicated to the Shinto kami of the valley and fertility goddess, Hime, it has been revered for its beautiful vermilion torii gate and serene natural surroundings.
