Ibaraki

The Twelve Shrines Shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture is dedicated to the worship of twelve kami, believed to be the gods who preside over the twelve months of the year. According to legend, these kami were originally twelve celestial beings who ruled the heavens and were later enshrined on earth as a means of maintaining cosmic balance.
